Chronic pain treatment at The Bay
Chronic pain is recognised as a complex health issue with several contributing factors. These include but are not limited to stress and anxiety, known to lower one’s pain tolerance, that, in turn, elevates pain and creates an intolerable cycle. A person stuck in this perpetual cycle, lacks the ability to facilitate even the most mundane everyday tasks let alone participate in activities that would usually provide joy. Overall quality of life is diminished, and commonly, this morphs into a coexisting condition of depression.

We offer a personalised program to manage the effects of chronic pain, improving quality of life and healing the root cause of the pain where possible. This truly holistic approach can include:
Psychotherapy to address the stress and anxiety that accompanies chronic pain
Physiotherapy sessions carried out by a pain specialist to increase movement and function.
Addressing inflammation through your diet by decreasing inflammatory foods and increasing anti-inflammatory foods and using supplementation to promote a healthy nervous system.
Meditation, mindfulness practice and medical chi kung, gentle exercises that are tailored specifically for you. We use physical movement, breathing methods and mental intention to correct and restore function in the body and promote healing for your whole being: body, mind, soul.
A good night’s sleep is crucial for effectively treating chronic pain and its associated anxiety. We set clear goals for improving sleep hygiene and employ proven relaxation techniques that you can continue to use when you return home.
